The Centre of Shaiva Studies was inaugurated on 6th May 2022, the auspicious day of vaiśākha śuklapakṣa pañcamī, Vikrama Samvāt 2079 of the Hindu Calendar. Dr Ganesan invited three trained Śaivācāryas to conduct the pūjā ceremony. The pūjā started with the purification rituals, followed by kalaśapūjā, a small havan and then the ārati at the end.
After completion of pūjā ceremonies, the Centre was officially inaugurated by Dr Ganesan and Manish Maheshwari, in the presence of numerous scholars, well-wishers, friends and family. Dr Ganesan gave a short speech to outline his vision for the Centre, followed by brief talks by a few assembled guests.
The space is located at the heart of Pondicherry in the Heritage Town. The Centre has a separate cabin, and a common area that can seat 10-12 scholars. The Centre is in the process of populating its Library and a manuscript collection.
