The Kāmikāgama, the foremost among the 28 Śaivāgamas, is a comprehensive text that covers nearly all facets of the Śaiva religion, both in personal and public spheres. It extensively details the construction of Śiva temples and the array of rites conducted within them.

For the first time ever, a critical edition of the Kāmikāgama, drawing from 18 manuscripts—one in the Tigalari script and the others in Grantha script—is planned for publication, complete with translations in Tamil and English. The initial volume, which includes the first four patalas of the Kāmikāgama, will be critically edited with annotations and supplemented by an introduction and translations in Tamil and English.

The scholars at the Centre have been working on this edition since the last one year. We are glad to inform that the draft edition was unveiled on the auspicious day of Sarasvati Puja on 23rd October 2023. This volume is scheduled to be prepared for press by the early months of 2024.
